Social Responsibility

We are driven by our conviction that positive social value is at the core of transformative real estate; and that a focus on creating societal value goes hand-in-hand with investment returns.

Creating inclusive communities

We embed social value in our projects from the offset and create places that can be enjoyed by all.

We do this by assessing the social value our projects have when we acquire them and developing plans that build on this. Specifically, we look at the extent to which:

  • The community can directly access, use and benefit from our places
  • There are opportunities for collaboration with organisations and local groups
  • Our projects deliver affordability, in terms of housing and commercial space and in terms of the price of visiting the spaces we create
  • The projects have the ability to positively transform their areas

“We engage with communities as soon as we become active in an area. This helps us understand what’s important, what the issues are and where we can add value. We can then create buildings and schemes that are an active part of their community from the offset.”

LOUISE PAGE-JENNINGS, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS & SOCIAL IMPACT

Active Neighbours

Community Engagement is and always has been core to what we do. We believe that good engagement creates better, more authentic places that in turn deliver stronger returns for our investors and create more liveable areas.

Our community engagement strategies have been formulated inline with best practice guidance from from industry bodies and combined with our on-the-ground experience.

While we follow these guidelines, we appreciate that every community is different. We believe engagement should be meaningful, measurable, and reportable, however a significant part of our approach involves spending time within communities ourselves, as active neighbours getting to know people, building relationships, and creating a trusted dialogue.
