2010: Lloyd Lee partners with John Hitchcox to establish Yoo Capital Management
Yoo Capital Management was co-founded by global property entrepreneur John Hitchcox and Lloyd Lee with the ambition of delivering visionary investments that create value for investors, communities and consumers alike. Andrew Thorpe joined the leadership team as Managing Director and Senior Partner shortly after.
2012: Working in partnership to create an inclusive Greenwich neighbourhood
Yoo Capital Management joined a consortium with LJ Capital and Mace Ltd to acquire Greenwich Square, a derelict former hospital, for £225m. On completion the project delivered 645 new homes, with 50% affordable affordable housing, a community centre, public library, health centre and retail space.
2013: Creative restructuring to deliver landmark building in Nine Elms
Yoo Capital Management entered joint venture with Frasers Property Ltd (SGX:TQ5) to deliver Vauxhall Sky Gardens, a 36 storey tower with over 200 homes, including shared ownership and affordable, and an eighth floor enclosed garden and gym.
2014: Providing specialist lending for investment in East London’s Docklands
Yoo Capital Management partnered with Venn Capital to provide £160m of development financing for Hoola Towers, a major new residential development in the up and coming Royal Docks area near Canary Wharf.
Yoo Capital Management partnered with Deutsche Finance Group (DFG) for its first pledge fund of £200m.
2017: Yoo Capital Management leads consortium to acquire the Olympia London exhibition centre
Yoo Capital Management partnered with Deutsche Finance International (the direct investment fund management arm of DFG) to acquire the Olympia London Exhibition Centre from Capco (LSE:CAPC).
2019: Launch of Yoo Capital Investment Management and Yoo Capital Fund II, L.P.
Yoo Capital and Astarte Capital Partners launch Yoo Capital Investment Management and Yoo Catpital Fund II, L.P. with the directive to invest in core London sites.
In January 2019 planning consent was given to the £1.3bn masterplan to transform Olympia into London’s new creative arts, entertainment and exhibition district.
2020: Yoo Capital Investment Management becomes majority owner of Shepherd’s Bush Market
In September 2020 Yoo Capital Investment Management makes its first acquisition through Yoo Capital Fund II, L.P. and obtains the controlling 75.5% interest in Shepherd’s Bush Market, West London, from U+I PLC (LON:UAI), which retains a 24.5% minority interest.
2021: Yoo Capital Investment Management acquires the former ‘Saville Theatre’ on Shaftesbury Avenue
In October 2021, Yoo Capital Investment Management acquires the former Saville Theatre building on Shaftesbury Avenue with a vision to bring live performance back to the venue.
